family owned, family proud

Outdoor Escapes of New England: “Making Outdoor Living Easy.”

A family-owned business based located immediately off Rte. 295 in Johnston has been at the epicenter of all outdoor projects large and small; from contractors to homeowners, from a small walkway to a large patio or pool apron, Outdoor Escapes of New England by Hartford have their customers covered.

The brotherly duo of Chris Corsinetti and Anthony Corsinetti, II, are the company’s co-owners. They have seen exponential growth over the past couple of years, thanks in large parts to its location change from 112 Old Pocasset Road to 281 Scituate Ave (exit 7 off interstate 295), it’s exceptional customer service and selection for any project.

Chris said the family business began nearly five decades ago, in 1974, when their dad, Anthony, Sr. started Hartford Paving Corp. They began doing driveways and small parking areas. After a few years, their company expanded. “We did not forget our roots, even though we started to accomplish other feats. Our still ongoing relationship with Providence Gas Company/National Grid now RI Energy has been growing strong since 1982.” Anthony II said. They now also do site work, utility work, roads, and many other construction services. Some of the contracts that they held include work done for the State of Rhode Island, many municipalities and many utility companies. We are one of the preferred paving companies of many general contractors.

In the decades following, plans for new exit ramps to their location sparked Anthony Sr.’s idea of a new business venture…a material yard. They opened the doors in 2003. It turned out being a somewhat bittersweet moment for the family, Chris said.

“Our father passed away shortly before he could see the ramps or the new business venture kick into action,” he said. “He knew it would be high volume of traffic but made it an easy and preferred destination for contractors to pick up the materials they needed. We have been blessed by his vision and with the number of returning customers we have.”

They stock many different types of pavers and other such materials for the do-it-yourselfer and the seasoned professionals. Two of their more popular lines are Techo-Bloc and the Nicolock that are used for such services as retaining walls and paving stones. Customers can either select and drive away with what they need (after purchasing, of course)! Or, they can deliver it to the home or job site. Besides Rhode Island, they also have clients throughout Massachusetts and Connecticut.

Chris Corsinetti lauds his company’s eight-employee workforce for their dedication and hard work. He said their sales team is mainly responsible for their expansion and having their stock “go through the roof,” leading to excellent customer satisfaction. All of our team continues to demonstrate support and leads to the positive customer experience.

The explosion of work has not been lost on the brothers.

“Our sales team, which includes my daughter Kara Serapiglia, Amaury Rodriguez, Bob Rocchio and Jason Salinger along with our yard and delivery team of Jean Laboy, Mike Ramos, Justin Lerch and Steve Dean have been the backbone to our significant growth. Without them, it would be difficult to be in the position we are in now. We’ve created such an incredible culture here.” Chris said. “We all work very well together with the understanding of the importance of customer service. We win in the workplace first, marketplace second.

Added Anthony, “We have grown so much in a short time. It’s really a credit to them to keep pushing us forward and making sure we continue our efforts.”

As for the do-it-yourselfer, Chris said they can be both a blessing and a curse. He noted many of those home improvement shows make some of the projects out to be easy. He tells people those projects are not as easy as they appear. Those are done by people who have experience in those areas. The “weekend warrior” will often lack the tools, knowledge or understanding regarding what truly goes into making those projects work.

Whether one needs materials to pave over a driveway, redo a patio or build a fire pit (one of the more popular plans for homeowners), they have the materials necessary to ensure it looks nice and is also durable.

Outdoor Escapes is a one-stop-shop for all contractors and homeowners, offering a complete line of landscaping and masonry materials, as well as the tools and equipment needed to get the job done. Their products include: bluestone flagging and treads, natural wall stone and veneers, thin veneers, manufactured stone, brick, pavers and segmental retaining walls, and much more.

Their experienced, knowledgeable, and friendly staff will be happy to assist you in selecting the right product to meet your needs and expectations to make your home improvement project a success.

They are open weekdays from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Saturday from 7:00 AM to 11:00 AM and are closed on Sunday.
